Create Mail List

The worst thing that can happen when a company performs an email marketing campaign is that a high percentage of the emails are never opened. There is also a problem if the email bounces, ends up in spam or is reported as abusive. Finally, unsubscribing is certainly not music to your ears.

Now what do you do when you have the product, the target audience and just need to get the word spread? You may think this is all you need to perform a successful mass mailing marketing campaign. Now you are aiming high, thinking that the emails you sent out will generate a lot of business.

This may be a good plan, but is it complete? You cannot simply open your email program, type in a list of names, write a few lines in the text area and push send. You may wonder why not, after all, you have found your target audience and you have a great product. For one thing, typos in either the 'jingle' or the email address can prove disastrous. Importing your contact list via reliable software is a good first step. It is optimal to use software for this that can sort and categorize your contact list(s). You will receive feedback that you will want to take advantage of, and once you really get going you will need to manage multiple contact lists.

Now that you have these lists, you may think you are ready to get started. There is, however, more to be done because most email programs cannot hide the fact that an email has been generated by a mass mailing program. The result: your carefully constructed email may very well end up in the spam or as trash. The solution is to use browser based, bulk email marketing software that is white listed with the major ISPs. In addition, your software of choice needs to address permission-based policies, authentication requirements and a host of regulations that must be adhered to before your email will be received. Ignoring this is not a possibility!

The content of your email is what you address next. It must not look like some home-baked message. In order for everyone who opens your email to read it easily you should use a WYSIWIG HTML editor. It might even be a good idea to use a template that has been professionally designed as the basis for your correspondence. These templates should be easy to modify and allow for uploading of your own design.

Opting-in for promotions is a tool that your software should provide. Your recipients should also be able to choose exactly what information you do and do not send them in the future.

Your recipients have seen your message and visited your website. You must have some way to make use of the information that those who have been to your website have input. Most people just think, okay, they bought or they didn't buy. Links clicked, emails bounced, emails opened - analyzing these properly is key to a successful email marketing campaign. The future of your company may very well depend on your software's ability to help you interpret this data.

Never send bulk emails through your office computer and always use white-listed, hosted email marketing software. Choose software that works for you to dramatically increase your success rate. I've researched over fifty companies and recommend just one. You can find it at MaxiMails.
